Paris came to my door

Let me take you back to the 80’s when Georges in Collins St was the genteel department store for all things ‘high end’ and ‘establishment’. Then a new fashion queen opened its very exclusive revolving door opposite …. welcome to Figgins Diorama. This was like walking into Printemps or Galeries Lafayette with French designer labels, beautiful perfumes, the Caron boutique and many more. Alas both these magnets for fashionistas and the discerning have disappeared.  Today the Paris end of Collins St continues as an exclusive precinct for designer boutiques…. Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, Dior to name a few.

Recently,  I needed some new face powder and Estee Lauder no longer stocks the Lucidity Translucent I have used over the past few years. I visited many make up stands in a fruitless effort to find a replacement that I liked. Then my search took me back to a Caron container that I had purchased at Diorama all of those years ago

I remembered this lovely powder ( which is probably why I kept the empty container ) and determined to find it I searched the internet, reading some helpful posts along the way … finally I was at the Caron Boutique in Paris with website images reminding me of how beautiful Caron was.

Thinking… Paris come to me,  I ordered ‘La Poudre’ in the Gitane colour as well as the most indulgent goose down powder puff in a soft apricot colour. Monday, the package arrived along with a Caron diary for 2016 and some perfume samples. What delight! What indulgence!

IMG_3931.jpgI just could not wait to use it and whilst my friends don’t seem to notice my new glow ….they  can’t escape the delicate rose scented fragrance that comes with this beautiful product. It dusts on like silk and is well regarded as the finest face powder in the world!

On my quest to find Caron I came across a post, with great photos of the New York Boutique

My destination travel list now has New York as well as the Caron boutiques in Paris clearly highlighted!
