Growing up in country Victoria, my life was one of observe, make and create. With a career in Education and Music, creative flight and needle & thread have always given a perfect balance to each day. My rewarding and fulfilling professional career path has been in Education and Music. My 'passion path' is a studio full of fabrics, threads and notions. A studio which looks out to trees and a colourful courtyard garden .... a place where my trusty sewing machine and I escape to for creative flight! I think I was born with a needle and thread in my hands and over the years have designed and made many, many garments, soft furnishings and useful things. My path has also included millinery, quilt making, water colours, crafting, felting, lots of embroidery and small treasures ....each skill bringing a new twist to my experience. So it was in 2013 that I set up my ETSY shop www.garnetfleuri.com.au Away from the studio ....Some of my favourite things are fresh flowers from the garden; harvesting lavender in December; freshly picked apricots; a walk down a country lane; Cape Cod and English style Manor houses; making bread and baking; making marmalade and preserves from my organic homegrown fruit; country style. Favourite places to travel: Lausanne, Stresa, Bamberg, Boston, Florence, and pretty little English villages like Naunton, Ebrington and West Hoathley.

Mist & Moors Scottish Wanderlust

April 28, 2016April 28, 2016 garnetfleuri1 Comment

Driving through Perthshire you can appreciate all the descriptions you have ever read. Lush pasture, rolling hills, rushing rivers, meandering streamlets and heather clad moors at the foot of the highlands … and then there is the mist which hangs over the morning sun drift. If you are close enough you can chat with pheasants,… Continue reading Mist & Moors Scottish Wanderlust

Gates

April 1, 2016April 1, 2016 garnetfleuri2 Comments

Gates are those entry and exit points that welcome or deter you, peek your interest or just make a statement in the surrounding streetscape. On my regular walk the other day I snapped a few gates which reflected period charm and practicality. I rather like the detail  and cut out motif complimenting this one A… Continue reading Gates

Kingdom Wanderlust

March 8, 2016 garnetfleuri2 Comments

Think Kingdom of Fife and golf lovers putt to the fairways of St Andrews and other golfing wonderlands in the Kingdom. But there is more to this small Eastern region, ancestoral home to Scottish Monarchs. From Edinburgh we trailed over the Firth of Forth with its visually stunning road and rail bridges to then swing… Continue reading Kingdom Wanderlust

Hebe Beauty!

March 4, 2016 garnetfleuri2 Comments

How lovely is the Hebe flower, a spike of dozens of little flowers that cluster to perfection. I remember this plant as a child …. I don’t think it appealed to me much then, but now I love to be greeted by this hardy shrub. Once established they are so easy to care for and… Continue reading Hebe Beauty!

Edinburgh Wanderlust

Scotland has always been on my wanderlust radar and this time last year I researched and planned a Scottish/UK adventure. Etihad was due to begin direct flights to Edinburgh from Abu Dhabi …. This suited perfectly, as I try to plan with minimum connections for such a long journey. Packed and ready to go in… Continue reading Edinburgh Wanderlust
